The Word Is Grace

"The Word Is Grace" is brought to you by The Carpenter's Shop, located at 1201 East Elmore Street in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Our Sabbath services begin at 3:30 every Saturday afternoon. Listen with us as Bible teachers Jim Denman and Tim Terry examine our faith in Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus), with a Hebraic perspective. What did Jesus eat? How did He dress? Is the Torah still valid to believers today? Did He really say that there are only two laws that we have to follow now? Did God change His requirements for salvation after the cross? Is the Sabbath on Sunday or Saturday; was it changed? Join us as we seek answers to these questions, with balance and a humble reverence for God's Word.

"The Last Chapter of John" John 21

Well, it took about a year to get here, and now we find ourselves in the last chapter of John.The lessons just keep coming in the final words written by the "one whom Jesus loved."
Peter still had some things that needed to be addressed by Yeshua, and Yeshua wasted no time in bringing it out in the open. "Do you love Me?" He asked. Peter did love Him. Peter loved Him with all of his heart; but Peter made mistakes, just like the rest of us. The important thing to notice here is that Yeshua refuses to let Peter's mistake be buried in the past; Yeshua loves Peter far too much for that. Peter had been caught with his foot in his mouth - he had experienced a major failure. Our Savior is not seen in the final chapter of John, letting Peter's failure get the best of him. On the contrary, we see Yeshua bringing Peter to restoration.
Yeshua knew that Peter loved Him; He knew that he was broken. He also knew the words that Peter wanted, and needed to hear: "Follow Me."
The same thing rings true for the lost through out the world today. They want and need to know that Messiah is beckoning to them, "Follow Me."
When that call is answered, we come to realize that there is Hope after failure, and there is still an open invitation to follow Him after we mess things up.
Thank God for John's gospel, and Peter's story.

Here at the Carpenter's Shop, we believe Yeshua when He states in Matthew 5:17 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill." We have come to know that our Messiah, Yeshua (Jesus), was a Torah observant, Jewish Rabbi who will one day return to reign from David's throne in Jerusalem. We believe that we are saved by the redemptive work that Yeshua accomplished on the cross; we are saved by the grace of God (Hashem), not by observing Torah. We observe Torah because we are saved, out of obedience to God's Word.
